Yukata

In Japan, Yukata is casual and single-layered cotton kimono, we usually wear in summer season with wooden sandals called Geta.

It is cool to beat the heat.

We have variety of fabric patterns for Yukata, such as flowers fireworks, gold fishes or Japanese summer futures.

Long time ago, many Japanese worn Yukata after we had took a bath with other people.

So we must not wear a Yukata when we go out.

However we started to wear Yukata when we go out to some events such as summer festivals and to see fireworks in the Edo period.

In the present, we wear Yukatas when we have traditional summer events as Bonodori, fireworks, and some events.

If you went to Ryokan, you can see Yukata. Because everybody wears Yukata after taking Onsen. We use Yukatas as pajamas.

We recommend Yukata as Japanese suvenir.
